Etching by Jenny Graham
NATURE INTO PRINT
July 3 – 5, 2018, 10 am to 4 pm
Tutor : Jenny Graham
Using aspects of the natural world students will explore different aluminium etching techniques. Discussions about creative interpretation of the environment will be combined with practical exercises on how to create line, tone and texture using a variety of processes.

Participants will begin by collecting visual information from the landscape surrounding the workshop. Sketches will be turned into simple line etchings and then other printmaking processes will be added to create tone and texture. Students will be encouraged to use a creative and experimental approach to the subject working with both figurative and abstract techniques.
So, if you want to learn aluminium etching techniques (always experimental!), or improve skills you already have, using the lovely surroundings of the Dove as inspiration, this is the course for you. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or message dovearts on facebook if you would like to reserve a place.

The last four days have been all about light and I’ve been running round Amazing Space with my camera, completely captivated. Here’s a selection since Monday. We finish on Sunday: last chance to come and see the show if you haven’t already!

It’s only May, yet I am already excited about the Amazing Space exhibition in the autumn, particularly as the first items – mini prints – are arriving. Those of you who are submitting work: don’t Panic! they are not really due till the end of July. I’ll post the first two here to give you a taste of what’s to come (there is a page just for the mini prints and I’ll try and get them all put there as they arrive).
If you wish to submit work for this, or a book for the book-in-a-drawer librarium, the only qualification is that you need at some time to have been associated with the Dove, either as a student, tutor, or resident artist. There’s a pdf below the images here, which if you click on it should bring up the entry forms. Get the entry form and payment back to me asap .
